Wesley International School Christmas Bazaar

This afternoon, Iin, Juliana and I went to the Annual Christmas
Bazaar at WIS. It was bustling with people. I haven't seen so many
people I know gathered at any single event! Teachers from my
language school, from Charis, from WIS, our helper and her family -
all in one place!

Outside, they had all sorts of food vendors. We walked into the gym
and the stage was fully decorated with a giant fireplace and numerous
Christmas trees! Christmas music was playing. Children were wearing
all sorts of Santa hats! Puppys for sale! Chocolate, books, music,
all sorts of handmade crafts: purses, quilts, stockings, aprons,
Christmas ornaments, Tupperware, too!

Spencer, I met Stephen today! Their family had a table for Christmas
photos and frames. I think we took 5 pictures there.

At Donna's table, Iin and I decorated cookies! After being broken in
half and a broken wing, yes, this angel is sad. C; But, it will
taste delicious!

Even though it's a hot day, it really felt like the familiar
Christmas fun! It was so much fun! Still, so spoiled!

High School Camp @ WIS

I'm reminded of my senior year of high school, when I couldn't go to summer camp because I would be leaving early for college. My small group coordinated a camp for us. It was a simple weekend in a home, but absolutely memorable. They coordinated food and KP (kitchen patrol), games, devotions and even transportation. Even then, we pulled pranks and tped our counselor's car in the garage. But we bonded. It was definitely the overflow of love.

Yippiee! So I was a counselor for only a day and a half, but it was so refreshing to my soul! I had a cabin of 5 girls. Mind you, our cabin was the Kindergarten classroom. But what an honor to be a part of this event.

I'm not sure what bonds we formed, as our time together was really short.

Overall, it took a lot out of me. I keep having my faith stretched in my own journey. But I am so encouraged by my time with them. I even took 4 girls on a short hike - to get my pillow at my house, literally down the street. It was fun to have them see my place, just before I get ready to move.

Open House

So, I don't even go to school at Wesley International. But Ibu Eko, my Indonesian teacher, invited me to check out open house at her school. It’s literally up the hill from my house. So after learning to ride the bike, I walked over. It was so fun to see her Indonesian classroom.

She is one of 4 teachers for the students there. Pictures were posted of the students (Some of them I already know!) in traditional clothing from various Indonesian islands. Indonesian music played in the background and they served mini traditional kue kering (snacks).

And I got to meet her son! He's just 2 years old and so cute (and so active)! I don't know how she has the energy to teach the kids, teach me, go home to her son as her husband works in Papua, and has an abundance of joy through it all! I'm amazed.

She sent me home with a dozen things to try, after already being stuffed! It was delicious! A few coconut treats, and a potato ball that reminded me of Porto's. I have saved some for tomorrow. What a fun day!
